They confirmed it’s not possible for my transmission fluid to be overfilled without someone physically pouring extra fluid inside, and were gracious enough to drain and refill the fluid free of charge. Instead, I took my car to my trusted mechanic who had rebuilt my transmission in the past and is familiar with my car. I asked the manager how fluid could suddenly appear and overflow if no one had touched my car since the last time I visited the store, and the manager replied with «I don’t know, but I’m letting you know what’s going on.» He’s the manager of this place and can’t answer how this would be possible? Well, it was clear to me that someone at that store had overfilled my transmission fluid in hopes that I would be dumb enough to pay for the $ 150 service. Suddenly my transmission fluid was overfilled. I had not had any services or work done on my car until going back for my next oil change in January.

I went in for an oil change in October and everything was normal. This particular Valvoline location is the only place that has done any work in my car in the last few months. (Plus we have free wifi and available computers open to the public.This location is scamming customers into unnecessary services. And our famous reading room allows for comfortable browsing of our zine and reference collections while sipping on coffee.

We carry new and used reggae, rock steady, avant-garde, political soul and jazz, r&b, international, punk, hard core, and more. Our bookshop offers books from presses such as Verso, South End Press, and AK Press, and our record rack stocks CD and Vinyl.

Our library contains over 5,000 titles (see /catalog/ironrail), plus and many DVDS/videos available for lending as well. We are also a news-stand, a home for zines and other self-published tracts and manifestos, and a comfortable, welcoming, non-institutional space where we can learn together and talk to each other. We are also home to the Above Ground Zine Library, a collection of thousands of rare and hard-to-find zines and small-press/alternative magazines dating back to the 1960s. This collection was assembled over the course of 10 years much of it was inherited from the Crescent Wrench Infoshop, which operated in New Orleans during the 1990s. We have over 7,000 titles on a wide variety of topics. We were also the first library in the city to re-open after Hurricane Katrina, and for several months we were the only functioning library in New Orleans. Our lending library is one of the largest collectively-run radical libraries in the country. The bookstore is operated by volunteers who believe in the importance of establishing alternatives to capitalism, while creating new public spaces and supporting community projects Group decisions are made collectively in weekly meetings, and members are encouraged to be creative in initiating individual projects. As an anarchist collective, the Iron Rail has no bosses or managers. We believe in a world without domination and oppression and in working to undermine authoritarian structures of power. The Iron Rail is organized in a way that puts theory into practice.
